Comet Opens All Day On Weekends

To think I got excited when I saw a sign announcing Comet would open at 3 p.m. on Sundays.

Well, they've upped the ante, and the ping-pong pizza haunt will now open at 11:30 a.m. Saturdays and Sundays for the whole day.

Co-owner and host extraordinaire James Alefantis promises spicy bloody marys, mimosas and beer specials. On the food front, additions to the pie repertoire include housemade meatballs on fresh baked sub rolls and a pizza topped with applewood smoked bacon, fried potato pancake, white cheddar and two eggs — just the right combo of protein and carbs to sustain a rousing game of pong.

This is great news, even though it is a little too late for me. After all the hype you gave Comet, I went there after a hike on a Sunday early afternoon a few months ago only to be shocked that they were closed. I'll have to figure out a time and a way to get all the way out there sometime soon...perhaps on a Sunday afternoon.

A hungry hiker and no pizza - that's no fun. They've only been a dinner spot, until now, which is great news for people looking for good pizza on the weekends.

Comet is absolutely terrible pizza, but the latke-egg-bacon combo is quite intriguing, especially for breakfast.

We clearly disagree on the pizza. I adore it. Whose pizza are you partial to?

I went to Comet last night for the first time and have to say I loved it. The green bean/smoked mozzerella/ hazelnut pie was just plain amazing and the butternut squash/potato was tasty. I was not crazy with all the grease on the plate from the olive oil, but all in all I am eager to go back and try some others.

I like the pizza.

But the staff is rude, rude, rude.

Oh yeah and they are slow too.
