Five Bites On Friday

Today's holiday edition of Five Bites is from Kevin Baker, author of The Beckley Kid. He recently moved away from DC and thought there was no better way to say farewell than with a five bites list.

1. Soupe a l'oignon at Café du Parc

2. "Buffalo" crispy fried oysters from DC Coast

3. Ahi tuna tartare at Proof (pictured)

4. Pucillo pizza with prosciutto, arugula, tomato and smoked mozzarella at Ella's Wood Fired Pizza

5. Bittersweet chocolate torte with salted cashews, caramel ice cream and a smear of caramel at Hook and a Cuban coffee from Ceiba

Five Bites is a weekly opportunity for Metrocurean readers to share the dishes and drinks they're enjoying around town. E-mail five of your favorites and whether you'd like your name and a picture included to metrocurean AT gmail DOT com.

I tried the dessert at Hook during a big night out on the town in May. Honestly, the food was good at Hook, but it didn't live up to all that I had expected--that's the problem with such high expectations. BUT, the dessert was unbelievable and enough to make me want to go back again and again. Plus, any place that has good fresh fish is good in my book...

I love Heather Chittum's desserts as well.
