Bayou Bakery Officially Opens Today
After a trial run this weekend, the Louisiana-inspired Bayou Bakery offically opens its doors today at 1515 N. Courthouse Rd. in Arlington.
Though diners will be clamoring for plates of fluffy beignets, red
velvet cupcakes and hot hand pies, the new joint is much more than just a
bakery.
To pay homage to his native New Orleans, chef David Guas is expanding on
his background as one of DC's top pastry chefs with a menu that also
includes plenty of savories including chicken and sausage gumbo, grilled
pimento cheese, deviled eggs, Creole cream cheese with buttermilk
biscuits, and the "muff-a-lotta," a take on the Crescent City's famous
muffuletta.
Bayou Bakery offers a full-service coffee bar, as well as a selection of beer (plenty of Abita, naturally) and wine.
