Westend Bistro Does Pop-Up BBQ
This Friday, Westend Bistro launches a made-for-summer pop-up concept on its patio. Chef Eric Ripert and chef de cuisine Joe Palma have created a new barbecue stand that will operate Fridays from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. And the menu is quite a steal.
Sandwiches like shredded chicken with an Eastern North Carolina-style vinegar sauce run $6, and a picnic basket lunch for just $14 includes a choice of meat, slaw, a fluffy biscuit (Palma, I want that biscuit recipe!), dessert and tea or lemonade.
Guests will queue up along the sidewalk to pick up lunch from the cash-only stand.
Ripert was in town Monday to host a preview lunch for the new concept. But sorry kids, he's probably not going to be dishing up your Texas-style beef brisket or pulled pork on a regular basis.
