• I hear Jack Rose, the new whiskey bar and restaurant from the Bourbon team, should be officially throwing open the doors any day now near the corner of 18th and Florida. The new spot will serve upwards of 1,000 whiskeys.
• Bolstering DC's lobster roll influx, Luke's Lobster opened Thursday at 624 E St. NW in Penn Quarter. Sized up the lobster roll yet?

• Peregrine Espresso's new 14th Street shop opened last week with Counter Culture coffee, Buzz Bakery pastries and a few more sweet treats.
• Joining Bobby's Burger Palace in College Park's Varsity building, a "luxury" student housing complex, Austin Grill will open its first Austin Grill Express, a fast-casual version of the Tex-Mex chain, in August.
• The Rockville location of the Brit-inspired Againn has closed.
