Hank's Oyster Bar Expands Size And Hours

One of Metrocurean's neighborhood favorites is doubling in size and adding some late-night hours to the mix. Chef Jamie Leeds will unveil the new Hank's Oyster Bar expansion and later closing times this Tuesday.

The new 1,800-square-foot space looks fantastic with four distinct areas for hanging out and grabbing a bite. Guests will now enter the restaurant through the new bar area (above). A moody 14-seat lounge is sunken into the rear of the new space, while upstairs there's a second bar, dubbed the "charc" bar for its charcuterie selection, and a private room that channels the feel of a retro yacht interior, complete with sparkly vinyl walls.

The old dining room remains unchanged, but the old bar will become an oyster bar, giving shuckers a little more elbow room. And for anyone who has ever coveted a hard-to-get seat on the patio, there's twice the space for outdoor dining now.

A new lounge menu for the expanded space will feature bar snacks like housemade soft pretzels with beer cheese sauce, bacon pecan brittle, and tins of smoked oysters with saltines. And with the new bar space, Hank's is able to expand the beverage selection with more cocktails, punches and wines by the carafe.

Hank's expanded hours are Monday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., Friday from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.

Looks awesome--and I'm excited because last time I went to Hank's, we waited over an hour to be seated (not that it wasn't worth it!). Now I'm craving some fried oysters...

Any plans to expand the Old Town location?

Why don't you put the picture captions BEFORE the pictures? Do you expect us to scroll from the bottom to the top?

Bettina: Should definitely ease some crowding for seats! Leslie: No plans that I know of for expanding the Old Town location. Anon: A caption below a photo is pretty standard. I used to design newspaper pages so it's stuck in my head too. I know the large photos get awfully tall. We're working on a slide show function so you won't have to tire yourself out with all that scrolling. ; )- (And line breaks in comments!)
