Scoop: Food News Round-Up

A look at some recent noteworthy DC dining news ...

• Chef Geoff Tracy has signed a letter of intent to lease the now-shuttered Againn space in Rockville, reports Bethesda magazine. A new Chef Geoff's could arrive in early 2012, Tracy tells the magazine.

• Del Ray's Cheesetique will open a new location in Shirlington this fall. Meanwhile, the original location is adding a dining room. Hat tip to Tasting Table DC's tweet.

Shaw's Tavern has opened at 520 Florida Ave. NW, without a liquor license for now. On the seasonal American menu are dishes such as cold melon buttermilk soup with watermelon salad, a selection of pizzas, and entrees like rockfish with collards, black rice and roasted beets.

• 14th Street's El Centro DF is now serving food on the roof including a selection of tostadas ($7.95), corn on the cob and guacamole and chips. Also on the roof, frozen margaritas are $4 from 5 to 7 p.m. nightly.

• A Russian restaurant called Mari Vanna will open at 1141 Connecticut Ave. NW, according to a liquor license spied by Prince of Petworth.
