5 Bites: June Blanks

June Blanks is the founder of a new grocery coming to the District, Penn Quarter Bodega. She spent the last year incorporating sustainable and local food concepts into culinary arts training taught around the country. Blanks is bringing that concept home in a grassroots way to Penn Quarter. The Bodega will prioritize local produce, meats and artisanal products, alongside favorite brands. The location is to-be-announced.

1. Groff’s Content Farm has the best chicken, hands down — a nice whole chicken to take home and bake with honey and fresh plums from the Penn Quarter FreshFarm Market.

2. Fig and prosciutto flatbread with any DC Brau on tap from Churchkey

3. Bev's grass-fed beef cheeseburger from Poste

4. Perfect brunch, an order of Cilbir (poached eggs on toasted bread topped with Greek yogurt, paprika butter and sumac) and a cherry juice from Zaytinya

5. A charcuterie and cheese selection with a double order of duck prosciutto from Vinoteca. Perfect meet-up before 9:30 Club. Then re-live the show in your mind and finish the meal at Dickson Wine Bar with a banh mi sandwich.
