Food News Round-Up

Mid City Caffe (Metrocurean's occasional unofficial office) announced it will close up shop on Oct. 1. The future of the building that houses Mid City at the corner of 14th and R streets is a bit up in the air. To throw salt in my caffeinated wounds, the block could lose Miss Pixie's as well thanks to a rent increase — unless a new tenant willing to pay doesn't come along. DCist has more details.

• In a stealth mode I'm guessing plenty of restaurateurs wish they could emulate, Michael Landrum opened a new spot called Ray's3 in Arlington last week, news of which broke on opening day. Eater has a look inside.

• Following the departure of Rob Weland, chef Dennis Marron will take over the kitchen at Poste Moderne Brasserie. Marron moves over from sister Kimpton restaurants The Grille at Morrison House and Jackson 20 in Alexandria. Look for new menus to roll out in early November.

• The rise of Vietnamese food in DC continues. BONMi sandwich and salad shop plans to open in October at 900 19th St. NW. Everything on the menu is priced under $10. Sous vide-cooked banh mi fillings will include a signature chicken, garlic lemongrass chicken, five-spice chicken, pork meatball, garlic black pepper pork and brisket. Vegetarians options will include chile-garlic tofu and butternut squash.

• Two new brunch options have popped up in the Logan/14th and U hood. The brand new Pearl Dive Oyster Palace and Lost Society both launched brunch on Sunday.
