Shop Watch: Trohv

An occasional look at the DC area's best shops for kitchen, home and tabletop ...

The shop: Trohv, 232 Carroll St. NW, Takoma

The goods: This offshoot of the Baltimore original arrived in DC this spring. The spacious store is filled with all sorts of stylish eye candy, from on-trend cookbooks and frilly retro aprons to industrial chic furniture and local art. I love the vintage aesthetic of the place. Plenty of great giftables — Claus Porto soaps, candles, picture frames, kids' items — make Trohv a perfect stop for holiday shopping. Home cooks will be drawn to the rustic wood bowls, ceramic serving pieces and glassware. And hey look below, pretty dish cloth napkins!

Metrocurean tip: Make it an afternoon trip with a stop in for lunch a few blocks away at Soupergirl for hearty, vegan soups made with local ingredients.
