District Commons, a self-described classic American tavern, is now open in Washington Circle, along with its sibling right next door, Burger, Tap & Shake.

The more upscale of Passion Food Hospitality’s newest ventures, District Commons and chef Jeff Tunks are offering a raw bar, entrees ranging from duck roasted ‘low and slow’ with wild rice sweet potato hash and sorghum chili glaze ($23) to a burger with braised short ribs and sweet and spicy slaw ($16) as well as a wide selection of draft beers.

And each night beginning at 10 p.m. (Sundays at 9 p.m.) there’s a family meal, announced to late-night diners and staff with the ringing of a farm bell. Friday is pupusa night; Saturday, huevos rancheros; Wednesday, chicken-fried steak, gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans. And the list goes on.

The restaurant also offers daily sandwich specials such as a Maine lobster roll, beef on weck and a pork tenderloin sandwich during lunch.
