Food News Round-Up

Noteworthy happenings on the DC restaurant scene ...

• Mike Isabella will open a Mexican joint called Bandolero in the former Hook space (at right) in Georgetown early next year. Read more about the new restaurant here.

• After some uncertainty whether any progress was being made at the rundown old dry cleaner at 14th and Q streets, a license has finally been posted for Stephen Starr's forthcoming Parc Brasserie. The Philly restaurateur is the also mind behind Morimoto and Buddakan.

• Chef Brian McBride has left the Park Hyatt and Blue Duck Tavern to join forces with Robert Wiedmaier of Marcel's, Brasserie Beck, Brabo and Mussel Bar. The pair plan to open a new spot within the year focusing on local food with McBride leading the kitchen.

• Falls Church's fine dining destination 2941 is changing course after the new year. The restaurant will close for a few weeks in January and reopen with a more casual vibe and a new modern American menu with Mediterranean influences.
