Set The Table: Moody Colors, Subtle Elegance
In last week's Set The Table, I teamed up with flower expert Sarah von Pollaro of Urban Petals and photog extraordinaire Moshe Zusman to give you some design inspiration for a casual fall shindig. This week, knowing some of you will be hosting quite the soiree this Thanksgiving, we're glamming things up a bit with a more formal look.
Not one to go all-in on formality, I dressed the bare table with subtly elegant touches and the dreamiest centerpiece that Sarah created with moody fall colors — deep eggplant purple, lush greens and rusty reds. More unexpected than the traditional fall palette of oranges and yellows.
Here's what you'll need to set the table:
1. I really love leaving the table bare to contrast the more formal feel of white linen napkins, silver and candles.
2. To play off the simple white linens and mini purple salt cellars, Sarah went with a fresh color palette of flowers and plants. She created a low centerpiece using eggplant purple and lime green coleus, rust red orchids and puffy green trick dianthus (I adore the texture they add). For a video on how she put together this gorgeous arrangement, check out the video on Urban Petals.
3. For a whimsical touch, add a spare sprig of greenery to each napkin.
4. Scatter a few small votives around the table for glowing ambiance. Sarah wrapped a small leaf inside each votive for a touch of green.

A huge thank you to Moshe Zusman for the stunning pics!
