Jaleo 2.0, Rasika West End Open
Spring being a time of renewal and new growth, it seems only appropriate that two of DC's biggest restaurateurs are unveiling exciting new beginnings.
Ashok Bajaj officially opens Rasika West End this Friday, though some of you have popped in for a meal already. With the new restaurant, Bajaj, who also owns Ardeo+Bardeo, Bibiana, Bombay Club, The Oval Room and 701, is expanding on the success of his original modern Indian gem, Rasika. (You'll now need to add "Penn Quarter" to the end of that name to avoid confusion.)
James Beard nominee Vikram Sunderam will oversee the kitchens at both the new and original restaurants. And for outdoor dining enthusiasts, a patio is in the works.
Meanwhile over in Penn Quarter, José Andrés has reopened the original Jaleo with a bold new look. The restaurant originally opened in April 1993 and helped launch the Spanish chef's career.
BYT has some great photos of the new avant-garde vibe. Count me in for looking forward to testing out the new tableside-prepared sangria.
