Q:
We are having a picnic at a winery to celebrate a friend’s birthday. I am thinking of bringing a charcuterie board with olives and cornichon. Where is a good place to buy charcuterie? I am in Falls Church VA – someplace close to me is good, but I’m willing to travel to DC as needed.

I highly recommend checking out Society Fair in Alexandria. You'll find everything you need for a great locavore picnic and more. The butcher case there is stocked with top-notch meats and pates.

Also, Screwtop Wine Bar in Arlington has a nice selection of cheese and meats for retail. If you come into DC, check out AM Wine Shoppe in Adams Morgan, Cork Market on 14th Street and Cowgirl Creamery in Penn Quarter.
